Last night the kids and I went to my sisters house to have a "campout" in her back yard. There were 4 adults (Me, Christen (my big sister), her husband Adam and my mom. and 6 kids. We got there in the early evening and set up camp. The kiddos were so thrilled to go camping it was still light out and Lincoln was begging me to let him go to bed. We started a little campfire and hung out for a while. For dinner we stuck some hot dogs on roasting sticks and stuck them over the fire for some good old camp food. And of course had s'mores. The kids got glow sticks and ran all over the back yard throwing them in the air and being kids. Then the 3 of us crammed into a youth 2 man tent and slept. In the morning my sister made a delicious breakfast and we headed out for some fun at the farmers market. Where the kids got their faces painted. It was nice to spend extra time with my family, as the time is coming closer for us to leave for Africa it is also getting closer for us to be leaving our families. Sometimes I look at my son and daughter playing with their friends but especially their cousins and I am heartbroken at the fact that everything they knows will be gone as soon as their little feet step onto that plane. I am confident that what we will be doing will be an amazing adventure for them and I am excited to see what the Lord will use them in and reveal to them. As much as it saddens me it also brings me great joy to know that my preciaous babies will be living a life that is for God and that they will see great miracles and especially Gods love for his people. I love my family very much and had a great time camping in the backyard, eating hot dogs, making gooey s'mores for the kids and just hanging out, because every moment matters. Love you all and thanks for the fun night! Tawnya

After waiting for a month our acceptance letters from Iris finally arrived on saturday the 6th. We are so excited!!! We have all of our passports and have sent in our first payments to secure our spots for school. After school is over we have the option of participating in an extended outreach, there are several options in many countries to choose from but we have our hopes on a bush bush out reach in Cabo Delgado which is from December 12-21st and is an outreach in a remote village, if we are accepted to participate in this outreach we will have the option of staying an additional week to spend Christmas with the children at the Village of Joy. What a humbling experience to see children open gifts that may never have recived one before and feast on chicken dinner and coca cola, such a treat. We are still applying for this additional stay so keep us in your prayers for additional financial support to take part in this life changing event. We will be purchasing our airline tickets as soon as we find out more about our departure date. Once we get our tickets we will apply for our visas. We are busy prioritizing items and contacting the base in Pemba to make sure we are taking the proper steps. I look now at the calendar and we have about 10 weeks left here in our beautiful town and am sad at the fact that we will soon be leaving our loved ones and all that is familiar to us and our children, but also anticipating new friendships along the way. He is a good Father and faithful, I know that we will be taken care of financially and even though we will be covered in dirt holding sick abandond babies we will see people through His eyes |
